Breaking News: ITF Rebrands to "World Tennis" in Historic Overhaul

In the most significant administrative and branding transformation in decades, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has officially announced its rebranding to World Tennis. Effective June 25, 2026, the governing body of global tennis has launched its new brand identity, corporate structure, and digital ecosystem.

This marks the organization's most historic evolution since changing its name from the International Lawn Tennis Federation (ILTF) to the ITF in 1977.

Key Highlights & Structural Changes
Following the modernization trends of other global sports governing bodies (such as World Athletics and World Aquatics), this rebrand introduces major practical updates for players, coaches, and national associations.

1. Player Systems: IPIN Officially Becomes "World Tennis ID"
For competitive junior and professional players worldwide, the most immediate changes affect daily tournament administration:
IPIN System Rebrand: The traditional International Player Identification Number (IPIN) has been phased out and replaced by the World Tennis ID.
New Player Portal: The original IPIN website has been redesigned and renamed the World Tennis Tour Zone, migrating to the new URL: tourzone.world.tennis.
Seamless Transition: Players' existing login credentials, historical ranking points, and ID numbers will automatically transfer without disrupting tournament registrations.

2. Educational Platforms
The official digital learning and coaching certification platform, ITF Academy, has transitioned to the World Tennis Academy (with its digital portal moving to academy.world.tennis). Core curriculum, coaching certifications, and player resources remain fully valid.

3. The 2035 Vision & Funding Reinvestment
Alongside the rebranding, World Tennis unveiled its strategic vision leading up to 2035, aiming to increase global tennis participation by 30%—growing from 106 million to 140 million players. Crucially, the organization committed to financial redistribution:

World Tennis pledges to reinvest at least 85% of its total annual revenue directly back into the sport over the next decade. This funding will support its 214 member nations and territories, specifically targeting the optimization of junior and grassroots tennis infrastructure.

Phased Implementation for Tournaments
While the official corporate website (now world.tennis) and communication channels switched to the new branding on June 25, the physical and operational rollout across tournament circuits will follow a phased timeline:
Major Events: The operational frameworks for the Grand Slams, Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, and Olympic tennis events remain unchanged.
Junior & Pro Circuits: For entry-level professional tournaments and the World Tennis Tour Juniors, the comprehensive transition of on-site branding, signage, and official tournament materials is scheduled to be fully implemented by January 2027.
